Razz Poker
Razz is exactly the same as a 7 card Stud Low game. It is one of the oldest poker games that has been around since poker started and although may not be as popular as Texas Hold’em or Omaha, it certainly has a large enough following.
The objective in this game is not to get the best score, or have the highest value cards, but it is to get the lowest value in cards. Here a straight or a flush does not really count and also brings no excitement.
At the beginning of any Razz game, each player is dealt 7 cards with absolutely no community cards on the table. Out of these 7 cards, the player uses 5 cards to play his/her hand and 2 cards are discarded as they have absolutely no value to the game whatsoever.
To start any game of Razz and Anti is placed on the table where after three cards are dealt – two face down and one face up. The player now who has the highest value card face up on the table with “bring in” the betting. If two players have the same value card, then it is the player closest to the dealer that will be called upon to bring in the betting.
Another 3 cards will now be dealt face up to each player with a betting round following and then the another card will be dealt face up, with a betting round. The last round now has another card dealt face down with the final betting round.
All players will now have 7 cards in their hands with two cards on the table face up and it is time for the “Showdown”. Between these 5 cards in hand and 2 cards on the table a poker hand needs to be assembled that would have the lowest value in all cards.
Should two people both have the same hands, the winning card will be the lowest of the high cards that is held in the hand. Here no pairs are allowed – they have to be consecutive numbers, and these consecutive numbers are not suit related at all.
